At first, life drawing sounded a bit scary. I had never done it before, although my parents had always encouraged me to, and had never taking the first step to going to a class. Now that it was a compulsory part of the course, I didn't really have a choice. At first it felt very uncomfortable, but after the warm up exercises I started to get really into it and by the end of the day was really pleased with what I had done. We worked in charcoal, a material which i hate, but I learnt new techniques with such as covering the whole sheet in a light charcoal and the rubbing out areas of light and darkening shadowed areas with more charcoal. I liked concentrating on just the light and the shadow of the model as I found this created a really interesting piece.

(Quick warm-up drawings some 3 second drawings, 10 second drawings and non-looking line drawings)

(Longer timed drawings just concentrating on light and shadow on the model)

Throughout the day I learnt many techniques which I can use in my current work, as well as having a fun day! I hope to do more in the future.
